Beastmaster to BCNM

Feb 18, 2009

[Beastmaster]
Make that Beastnovice !
Sha-chan and I headed out to Tahrongi Canyon to train on our Beastmaster jobs.
We had accepted training that called for us to kill bees and saplings, if I remember right.
This seemed like a good idea while we were standing at the training manual.
However, we realized our folly once we found bees only in the more open area, as opposed to the path leading from Sarutabaruta.
My pet would either get killed or lose charm and come charging after me!
Then when I went looking for a new pet, while the bee tried to decimate poor Sha-chan, they were all Tough!
I didn't want him to die, so I tried to charm anyway... Of course the angry bunny came hopping after me, bent on my destruction for having the nerve to call it to do my bidding!
Luckily, a white mage happened to be coming by and hopped off her chocobo to raise me.
This was my second KO of the outing and it was taking a toll on me.
Maybe... having naturally low charisma meant I was not suited to even be a beastmaster.
Not ready to abandon the cause just yet, I penned a note to the magical oracle wiki!
So I want to take a moment to thank the following folks who were kind enough to bestow their knowledge upon me!
Dalimar of Pandemonium
Aeric of Alexander
Stefanos of Hades
Fretion of Bismarck

Now I have some camping to do!
I'm kind of excited and I hope Sha-chan will accompany me, then each of us will be able to boost charisma!

[BCNM]
Unable to pick a job to train, I asked Shagrath about BCNM.
We had done one before and I needed the Phalanx Scroll for Red Mage, but was not of level to try any of the burning circles where that was a reward.
So his brother suggested we try Petrifying Pair.
We three were to face off against two lizards.
My job, as the Red Mage (with white mage support) was to Bind and Gravity the gray lizard, Kalamainu.
Sha-chan and brother Wolf were going to fight Kilioa while I was keeping Kalamainu busy.
I was to remove poison should they receive the affliction.
Seemed easy enough.
We entered and after I set the Protect enchantment on us, and blink on myself.  We moved toward our prey.
I cast bind but... Kalamainu came racing after me anyway!
I ran a few steps and then cast Gravity. Thank the Goddess that stuck!
I made a run for it, re-cast blink, re-cast Bind and then cast Paralyze on Kilioa before I had to start running again.
I kept at this until Wolf and Sha-chan had killed off Kilioa.
Then I was able to rest a bit and paralyze Kalamainu as well as cure.
We won the first fight, even with that little upset at the beginning.
The second fight went much smoother.
Bind worked, and I used Gravity anyway just to give myself a little more time.
I ran around keeping Kalamainu busy with ease this time and was able to paralize and blind Kilioa as well as set bio on it!
After we won, Wolf gave me a wonderful compliment!
He said I was becoming a skilled Red Mage! Such acclamation made my cheeks flush! *^_^*
{/blush} I am? *grin*
