I needed something safe to do. Staying inside should be pretty safe, right?
Not inside the Mog House, much as I wanted to. Inside the safety and security of Windurst. The piping tunes! The greenery! /joy
I figured if I was out and about in the city, I might make a friend or two. So as not to seem desperate, I decided the best thing to do was FISH!
Just teach a Mithra to fish and she won't go hungry! =^_^=
At dusk I dressed in my fishing finery, a pretty blue tunic and matching gloves, and headed out to Port Windurst to purchase a Willow Fishing Rod from the fishing guild there. After that I decided to hang out by the shop that sells little worms and fish in the moat that runs through the city. That way when I ran out I would have more bait close at hand. Plus, I was sort of afraid of what might come leaping out of the ocean at me!
Relaxing... Have you ever noticed that some stars glow a bit brighter then the rest? I have seen a couple, one with a yellowish hue, another with purple or blue.
I pulled in a few crayfish and moat carp- even a Gold one! before I eventually began to space out as pretty glowing orbs floated up out of seemingly nowhere and into my field of vision. Before I knew it, I was watching the sky wash lavender with faint feathered clouds floating rose. I was lost it the vision until...
A BITE!! I was jerked back to reality as my feet slipped too close to the edge of the walkway.
This fish seemed stronger then the others. Maybe he was putting up a good dawn fight, thinking I was too sleepy to yank him up?
Nope! My space-out cat nap was all I needed and I and pulled with all my might!
Even a new Red Mage mithra can be too mighty.
Or perhaps it was the mighty morning fish.
*SNAP*
Your rod breaks
Noooooooooooooooooo!!!
I couldn't help but break down in tears as I looked at the Willow Rod, now in two pieces, in my hands. I still had nine little worms left wriggling in a bucket beside me. That could equal nine little crayfishies to snack on later. /sulk
It was then that it dawned on me-- Can this be fixed?
I didn't know who to ask, save the fellow who escorted me on the crag adventure a few nights previous.
I sent him private word and he replied, "Where are you?"
"In Windurst Waters... my Willow Rod broke. Do you know how to mend it?"
"Hang on..."
I sat and waited... and realized he was somewhere I had never heard of. Just as I was going to tell him 'never mind', he sent me word from Port Windurst.
"Where in Waters?"
"S..south of Odin's Gate. Oh my gosh, you didn't have to come all the way here!"
I stood up as he rounded the bend and held out my broken fishing rod for him to see.
He took it and knelt before me as he pulled a light crystal from a hidden pocket.
I couldn't help but stare as the crystal began to spin, working it's mending magic on the rod. After a flash of light and a fiss-ING sound he stood and presented me with-- A shining whole Willow Rod!
"My herrro!"
As hero headed off to a nap, I started fishing again. Thoughts of crayfish grilled and dipped in selbina butter dancing through my head.
I only pulled in three of them when *SNAP*
Okay what the heck!! Crayfish are tiny!! /angry
I pitched the re-broken rod into the moat as hard as I could, secretly hoping to knock out the big fish who initially wrecked it.
In a fit, I stalked out into Sartuabaruta in search of something to take out my frustration on.
Goblin Fisher. Too weak to be worthwhile
Purrrrrrrfect.
I let loose a flurry of Water, Aero, Stone, Bio! Sword smack!
Guuurrfff... The goblin fell over and dropped--- A Yew Fishing Rod.
GLEE!!
I snapped up the new rod and raced back to town, where I resumed my fishing.
Crayfish. Moat Carp. Crayfish.
Apparently, three is the magic number.
*SNAP*
Piece of $#@* goblin rod!!!!!!!!!!
+idea+ Maybe... Maybe I could fix this? Can fixing a fishing rod be that different from what I have been learning with cloth craft?
I went and asked at the guild and found out the synth level to fix it was too high for my 0 level of woodworking skill.
Giving into defeat, I bought a new Willow Rod.
Headed back to my fishing spot.
Caught two crayfish and a moat carp.
*SNAP*
/angry OKAY REALLY?!?!? /cry I just wanted to relax!
I got a hold of a couple of light crystals and tried to mimic what my hero had done from the safety of my Mog House.
First go of it... the Crystal you were using breaks
Second go of it, not only did the crystal break, but it took the fishing rod back to kingdom come with it!
noobie tip: in the land of adventure, there is no such thing as relaxing
