home...

Dec 16, 2008

After the misadventure of Qufim Island, I decided it was time to go home.
Sarima had told me the grain seeds I had planted earlier in the week were ready to be picked. I knew she could warp home and do it for me, but I wanted to see the pretty glowing flowers for myself first. Plus, I just missed the place. The sounds and smells simply make me smile. Even though Windurst isn't where I was born and raised, it certainly felt more like "home" to me now.

Kiamo!! I was inspired to write a song for you using your stationary set while you were out adventuring, kupo!

Oh you were? That's wonderful, let me hear it Sarima!

Oaky, master! Kupieeieie!
Master wishes me to be silent, about a picture she has...
Of a male mithra, with bare chest and strong hands!
Kiki is worried Sha-chan would see
and then the Puppet Master Prince might tear it down in a fit of jealousy!!!!

SARIMA!

I snatched the scroll she was holding away from her to read the childish lyric for myself.
As it turned out, she was just making it all up to joke at my expense. What I actually held in my hands was a scroll of Scop's Operetta.
I stowed it away in storage in case I ever decided to try out the Bard job.

Just then, Sha-chan did come calling. He wanted to take me to do a mission called "Lost for Words".
We had to travel into the Maze of Shakhrami.
That place was creepy! There were gigantic bones strewn on the floor of the caves and tunnels.
I was afraid something bigger might be lurking in the shadows.
Sha-chan said that there was nothing that big in there anymore, but in other areas there were big beasts called Grand Wyrms.
He explained that they were basically huge dragons and that maybe when I was of a higher level, we could go see one.
It would seem my taste for adventure was blooming, because I did want to go see, even though I was fearful that the Wyrm may mistake me for a snack!

We only had a few minor incidents in the Maze. The first was when a Goblin did decide I was a snack and came chasing after me. The second was when a big scorpion wanted to have a taste of Sha-chan. It got a fist full of Automation instead!
Eventually we came to a Fossil Rock where I found the Lapis Coral that Nanaa Mihgo wanted.

(I won't go into any more detail about this mission because I don't want to ruin the cut scenes for anyone who has not done them that reads my blog)

When we were all finished with that drrrrama, we moved onto the next mission, A Testing Time.
This mission was timed, so we raced out to Tahrongi Canyon on Chocobo with the "Creature Counter" shoved safely in our packs.
We started killing everything in sight, working our way around the Crag of Mea. We chose that area because then we could rent Chocobo's to get back to town, saving us time.
We were to slay thirty monsters. I was worried at first, because that seemed like quite a few, but we were finished in no time!
When we got back to town, Moreno-Toeno told us we had a few hours still to complete the mission.

Well that's weird... We killed more then 30.

I guess we have to wait and come back when the time is up?

Okay... Well I don't want to sit in this stuffy building! Hehe!

I raced outside and saw that the sun had already started its decent. I wanted to watch the sky turn deep purple from somewhere high up, so I ran toward the Hostel thinking we could gain access to the roof.
No such luck.
I then suggested Port Windurst, and without waiting for agreement from Sha-chan I scampered off.
I knew just the spot...
We ascended the steps outside the Air Travel Agency just as the stars were glowing into full brightness. The sky was a deep purple, cut through by the beam on the lighthouse some miles out.
My very first night in Windurst I had come to this same spot, all by myself, to watch the moon come out.

Isn't it pretty?

Yes it sure is.

We sat there quietly. Enjoying the sea air and the stillness.

After a time, we headed back to Moreno-Toeno... who did not tell us we were successful!

Maybe we over-killed?

I guess so... Now what? Must we do it again and wait all that while? I think I would pass out...

No, we can bribe the gate guard with crystals and then get the next mission.

What?!

Yeah! Come to my house, I have lots of extra crystals!

I agreed and we raced to the Residential Area.
