It was pretty late when Sha-chan and I made our way to South Gustaberg.
I had gotten it in my mind that I wanted Bounding Boots to wear when I was training Beastmaster with Sha-chan.
But not just for Beastmaster, I figured they would come in handy for Thief, Dancer and Ninja. ^_^
Sha-chan thought it would be a good idea if I camped as Thief as well.
However, I knew if I went to town and into a rent-a-room to change, that the cozy bed would probably provoke me to attack it by passing out on top of it! =p
So we circled the tower of rock that had steep slopes on either side. Somehow there were a couple of trees growing atop it as well.
The otherwise barren landscape served to only make me more sleepy.
The fact that we easily slayed the lizards also helped to lull me into fantasy of plush pillows and cozy comforters.
Kia--?
Wha--? Sha-chan how did you get in-- Oh. Oh sorry I--
I rubbed my eyes. Apparently I had nodded off while resting against a rock.
We're still in South Gustaberg, not your mog house. Heh.
Ah.. yes I see. Have you seen Lizzy?
No, not yet. Why don't you take these boots we got from the BCNM?
No! Those are yours. I know we will get these... if only Lizzy would show up to this slumber party...
Haha! Kia, if you are tired we can certainly do this another time. Or you could, of course, take these Leaping Boots.
No, stop trying to give them to me Sha-chan. Let's look around...
I sleepily sighed and stumbled from my none too comfortable resting place... Right into Shagrath.
Ooohhff! Sorry!! I'm just a bit... I'll be okay. How long did you say?
It could be two hours before we see Lizzy...
That long? Ugh...
If you're tired, I'll walk you back to Bastok.
No, no. These boots... will be goodforbeastmasterings... ahhnd thiefsja...
Struggling to blink sleep from my eyes, I trudged around down the steep path and saw a lizard.
Mmmaby this will help me stay awakeee.
I drew my sword and made some sorry attempt at a slashing motion.
The force of my uneasy swing, and the fact that I missed, spun me in a half circle. I lost my footing on the loose gravel and slid down the remainder of the slope. Right- Onto- my butt.
Giving in, I just laid back and sleepily blinked up at the night sky. The stars played peek-a-boo. Twinkling then dodging behind their violet velvet cover of darkness. Wispy clouds refusing to partake in the game as they meandered toward the moon.
Footsteps beside me. A hand on my arm, then on my face.
Kiamo?
Mmmm?
The hand on my face was warm and smelled of musky powder. Absentmindedly, I nuzzled into the touch.
Ah... Kiamo? Come now, get up. You don't want to lay there...
Sha-chan?
I sat up, still cuddling his hand- oblivious.
You can do it.
I felt a strong, persuasive hand around my waist and then a tug.
With a grunt, Shagrath pulled me to my feet.
Somehow, having to carry my own weight again caused me to regain some sense.
Oh! Shagrath! Sorry!!!
My face was hot as I let go his hand and took two ungraceful steps back.
This was no place for napping, or cuddling--- Cuddling?! What?!
Heh, no worries Kia. I think we should get you to bed, though. Hmm?
Ah... yeah.. I... I need to go to sleep.
Yes, we can hunt Lizzy another time.
Right! Tomorrow! Tomorrow I'll... have wits.. I'll be fresh.. yeah..
I wasn't making sense and I still couldn't quite focus my vision.
Stop talking. Now. Kiamo.
I sleepily gazed at Shagrath, then turned and tottered trying to make my way up the hill.
Again Shagrath was beside me, steadying my steps.
Do you want me to just carry you back to town? It isn't far, you shouldn't be too heavy. Haha.
I could only blink at him. I knew he was trying to tease me, but I was too tired to reply with anything more then a short, sleepy nod.
So, Shagrath knelt before me and I leaned my torso against his back, wrapping my arms around his shoulders.
As he rose, he grabbed hold of my legs and shifted my weight up with an unflattering heave.
Ooff... Uh.. Am I... too heavy?
Uh..heh no... Just needed to carry you a bit higher on my back. Hold on tight now, if you can.
Mmmhmm I will. I won't fall asleep and fall off, I promise.
And I didn't. I did space out, but I held on until we made it to town. To the residential district. To my rent a room.
Where I simply did pass out.
--The Morning After--
I awoke spry! Rrrready for adventure! Rrrready to camp that Leaping Lizzy!
I splashed water on my face, dressed Thief (with dancer support) and scampered out to Gustaberg.
Shortly after, Sha-chan joined me. He came Dancer this time, and was wearing the Bounding Boots he tried to give me the night before.
I skipped happily around, gleefully killing every lizard I saw.
I knew we would find Lizzy. I knew she would have my boots.
I stood atop the hill that I had slipped down the night before and spied I lizard. I shot it with an arrow as Shagrath ran up beside me and shouted...
Leaping Lizzy!
Oh crap! I didn't see it.
Luckily no one else was around. Shagrath began to fight Lizzy, and I ignored the lizard I had picked a fight with to focus on Leaping Lizzy as well.
I didn't take much damage from my mistake pull. Drain Samba is great for that!
Every hit on Lizzy gave me health back!
Soon she fell.
!!!!! Yeahhh!!! Boots!!! I knew it!
Congratulations! She dropped them because I was wearing these.
Indeed! And because big brother wished us luck last night!!
Oh yes, that too!
I gleefully sat down in the dirt, shucked my leather boots and put on my shiny new Leaping Boots!
Hmm. Lizzy was kind of... fatter then the other lizards.
Fat with my BOOTS!!
