The place where adventurer's around my skill level go to train is called Qufim Island.
When I hear island, I tend to think of a lush, tropical and warm place.
Qufim Island is the EXACT opposite of that.
A very cold rush of air met my face and chilled the tips of my ears and tail immediately.
A forewarning?
I had met a Ranger looking to group in Port Jeuno while I was practicing my bar-spells and accepted his invite happily.
I was looking forward to meeting more new people, since those I had met already were so kind and helpful!
After I got a signet placed upon me, I followed the Ranger out to meet up with the rest of our group.
I was glad to have the sneak enchantment for the both of us. I learned that the "Weapons", these very odd looking monsters that lurk in the tunnel leading from Port Jeuno to the main part of Qufim Island, could detect us by sound.
We made it safely to camp, which was near a very tiny pond that was almost totally frozen over, and Ranger pulled a crab.
I began my round of enfeebling spells... *Dia* *Paraliz--*
The other Red Mage in the party was casting the same spells.
Okay... I will use slow and poison instead. He sometimes did the same thing even after I had cast.
I tried to stick to cures, but again I found we were doubling up.
On top of that, it seemed that no matter what I did, the crab we were fighting would come and smack me!
I thought {Back line job.} was not supposed to fight.
Since I was not training alone, I wasn't expecting to have to fight. Plus, even if I had tried to engage, I would really have no time to rest!
The rest of the group and I were resting on one side of the pond, and some how the Dragoon was way on the other side. While he was over there, he aggravated a Worm. It bound him and he was KO'd before the rest of us could find him to help.
I wondered why he hadn't stayed with us.
My group began to shout for a Raise for the Dragoon and the people in the area seemed to dislike the guy, because they laughed a lot.
They also poked fun at his name- saying, "Gandolf White should be able to raise himself!"
I thought that was rather cruel...
Finally someone came by and raised him and we continued training.
As night fell, someone said we needed to move before the undead came out.
I really didn't like the sound of that, because it made me think of the Boogie that Protector Puppeteer, Helpful White Mage and I had to slay several days previous.
We relocated to a pathway just off of the pond.
This spot was not safe either, because a Wight came out of no where while we were fighting a crab. I desperately tried to bind it, so we might be able to make a run for... for somewhere. That served to only get me KO'd faster.
It then decimated the entire party.
A friend of one of my group members came to help us out after that, but they were not able to stay long.
Then for some reason someone decided we needed to move camp again.
I was led to a cliff overlooking the ocean. Cold sea spray was in the air and only worsened how I was already feeling about this outing.
As I rounded the corner, I saw a Goblin Bounty Hunter murder one of the group members.
I gasped in fear, this looked JUST LIKE the ones by the other beach... And Protector Puppeteer wasn't here to save me this time!
I quickly attempted to bind it. Resist.
*Paralize!*
That stuck, maybe we had a chance.
Nope.
I'm not even sure what all happened. There was shouting and confusion and then we were all laying face down in the snow and rock.
The Dragoon managed to convince one of his friends to come out to Raise us.
When that person arrived, he raised the party member who had fallen first, but as he got up- that same Goblin killed him straight away!
The friend of GandolfWhite then killed the Goblin.
I privately wondered why he hadn't done so in the first place, but I am still learning...
Once again, the mage raised-- and just as my party member got up that darn Goblin re-appeared and slew him AGAIN!
Everyone but me laughed very hard at his plight. Then the fellow was gone, apparently he "home pointed".
That didn't seem like too bad of an idea, except Protector Puppeteer told me you lose more experience when you do that.
Gandolf White was raised next. While the rest of us waited for our turn, he went and sat on the back of one of the fallen party members... and farted.
Gross... Why do that to a fallen comrade?!
That was just the beginning, next he sat on some one else.
Gandolfwhite takes a !@#$%& all over...
I was thoroughly disgusted and asked him to please stop.
With that he sat on another fallen member Gandolfwhite gives (I forget the name) Aids
Then he got up and headed toward me.
I didn't even wait to see what would happen, I just used the only out available to me, experience be damned!
Everything went black--- Then suddenly I heard that pretty waltz and saw the stone walkway of Upper Jeuno come into view.
Thank Altana!!
I apologized to the party leader and promptly looked for someone to replace me.
Not that I wanted to send someone into misfortune, but perhaps someone else would be better able to put up with some of that foul behavior.
I had had enough and decided to take a nap in my rent-a-room. Thank Altana it comes with a bed!! A warm... comfy... bed. I was glad for that after the chill of Qufim Island!
